A New Normal Mother’s Day, Office Safety Protocol & Your Morning Briefing…

I spent my mother’s day morning with a friend on a plant buying expedition

garbed in gloves hats, masks and glasses and as we practiced social distancing while meeting other gardening enthusiasts at the Brooklyn Terminal Market.

I know others who hosted mother’s day dinners via video chat software or FaceTime.

It was not quite “business as usual” but it was good to be out among the beautiful plants and I am hopeful that those businesses who received the PPP and EIDL loans will be able to use them for the purposes intended and that their businesses will be able to become operational and financially sustainable.

While reading my online business, general news, and accounting newsletters and briefings I have been trying to imagine the model for my “new normal” office with a safety protocol.  We are working to create a “new normal” operating environment for myself and my clients many of whom have businesses with procedural or hands on interaction with their patients or students.

In our office we say “it’s not a problem, it’s an opportunity”. During this pandemic we having been using our established technology in new ways while continuing to evaluate, review and implement other software products for ourselves and our clients.

I have been reading about software that helps set staggered work schedules, shared space (conference rooms/break-rooms/hallways) schedules,

software to recreate floor plans based upon capacity restrictions for companies whose business model requires an in person staff and customers or patients, and other software which enables employees who will continue to work remotely still feel like an active member of the team. Think of the innovation that we will see in the coming months.

Here’s hoping for reliable testing, a vaccination and getting back to work in what is a safe environment for our co-workers, customers, clients…

Now on to today’s New York Times Morning Briefing to see what’s going on with our country, our government, our economy, taxes and of course, the Coronavirus  NYT Monday Morning briefing…
